Six months have passed and I have not gotten anything going. I have had had an epiphany or two about what it means to be provident. I am finding simpler ways to accomplish what I need to do. This may seem silly, but I don't think I am going to use Quicken anymore to manage my finances. My computer died in July after a lightening storm. I have been waiting for the mother board to be replaced and have been using my husband's laptop since then. I didn't want to clog it up with all the programs I had on my computer since it is only temporary. I made an Excel spreadsheet based on one that my daughter Megan had sent me. Not only will I not have to spend the money to update my program. I actually have a better idea about where my money is going, be it for worthwhile things or just plain wasted. I take the time each banking morning to update it and I have found it very useful to date. It isn't fancy. It doesn't talk back and forth. But, I don't think it takes me any longer and I have a budget and a plan now. So provident living here I come.

THIS IS THE BEGINNING

I have never blogged, but I have read quite a few of late.  With the economy heading the way it is, I have felt that I need to have some essentials stored in case we need them to make ends meet or in case of an emergency such as an ice storm or hurricane.  This could include food, water, flashlights, first aid kits, seeds for a garden, or 72 hour kits.

My cousin is the leader of a group of families who go together to buy essentials where she lives. My sister is also part of a group.  Families in our congregation at church have gotten together and bought essentials. By going in together to purchase, these groups offer significant savings over buying alone.  I wanted to put together a group that could participate in group buying of essential supplies here in the Kennebec/Sagadahoc county area.

I am inviting you to join me in this group.  If you know someone who would like to participate have them send me an email and I will add them to list.
